Kawaii Sun and Clouds Illustration

Do you like Kawaii? Here is an illustration I recently finished up in this fun style for zazzle products. I created the Kawaii sun and clouds in Adobe Illustrator. Often times, much like I did with this illustration, I sketched the concept on paper first.

This Kawaii sun and clouds illustration is now available on a wide variety of products in my zazzle shop. My favorites are the Kawaii Sunny Day water bottle and the candy Jar. Octo-Puss, Cat and Octopus Sea Monster Illustration

This Octo-Puss illustration is part of a series of pun drawings I am doing inspired by my departed father. He loved to joke around and loved puns. I keep a list that he and I made on the phone one night a few months before he passed away. He contributed most of the ideas and I kept it to create humorous product designs. Its roughly seven years later now, close to his birthday and I thought that it was about time I start creating shirt and product designs with these ideas.

This Octo-puss is litterally a cross between a cat and an octopus turned sea monster. To take it a step further I created some scenery and placed a little mouse in a row boat helplessly aware of his impending doom. This was a pretty time-consuming piece because I did a great deal of pointillism in order to complete the ink work. I drew this cat sea monster with a mixture of Sharpies and Micron pens. The overall effect was pretty rewarding! I think it looks great on shirts as well as products such as mousepads. Check it out below!

Ladybug Nintendo DS Illustrations

I have a Nintendo DS lite and I have homebrew applications installed on it. One of those applications is Colors which is also available on iPhone and the 3DS as well. The great thing about using it on Nintendo DS is that you have a stylist and can do more precise drawing. Of course you could get the Jot stylus for IPad or IPod touch and draw pretty well too but if you have a nintendo DS lite sitting around, creating drawings this way is fun and convenient.

Just experimenting with it I tried doing some illustrations and exporting them to the computer. I was pleased with the results!

Here are four ladybug illustrations I came out with was able to put onto products at zazzle.com. They weren’t high-resolution enough to put on things such as shirts but they worked great as stamps. check them out here!

This first one is a green convergent ladybug. I decided to do it monochromatic, emphasizing the colors of its environment though these ladybugs are usually bright oranges.

Another one we have here is an Asian ladybug on a pink flower petal.

This one is a purple convergent ladybug and the colors were inspired from the steel blue bird ladybug as well as some other ladybug species that have this chrome purple color.

And this last one is a really little ladybug on a leaf. I believe I intended it to be an Asian ladybug but I didn’t really make the species specific. Just more experimentation with the stylus on the Nintendo DS. These look better shrunk down a bit which is why they work great as for my stamp art on zazzle but hopefully you can get a good idea of some of the effects you can achieve with this little program.

Kawaii Ladybug Pirates

Seeing all the different pirates, ninjas and zombies in pop culture, I was inspired to make some little Kawaii ladybug pirates. These were the initial design in a series of little kawaii ladybugs. The illustrations were done in Adobe Illustrator as vector art and the backgrounds were keep consistently simple.

These ladybug pirates are available on a variety products at my zazzle shop. If you like these you may also like my kawaii ladybugs zombies that I have done in this style.

Kawaii Ladybug Cupcake Illustrations

This series of kawaii ladybug cupcake illustrations was a lot of fun to create. It was inspired by my wife’s love of amigurumi. On one of the many sites she visits she found a lady who crochets little amigurumi creatures such as ladybugs and puts them in cupcake tins. We decided it would be a great idea if I illustrated some ladybugs in this style and put them in cupcake tins. In addition to this I also sculpted a couple little ladybug cupcakes out of polymer clay. Check out the polymer clay ladybug cupcakes here!

As you can see below I came up with quite a few variations attempting different color variations to emulate flavors of cupcakes and holiday themes. I offer these designs as products on zazzle.com. I have found that a lot of people seem to purchase these for their business cards in addition many people like to buy these as shirts.
